The M&M Insurance Group of Conway, NH are pleased to announce the acquisition and installation of the major artwork Blue Sky Triptych by local painter Ian Torney, comprised of three 36-by-36-inch canvases and painted in oil.
M&M Insurance owner Phil Mason and his wife Pam are longtime collectors and supporters of local artist’s work, and the M&M offices already feature several paintings, photographs and handmade furniture from area artisans. Blue Sky Triptych represents their most ambitious acquisition to date and will be prominently displayed at the entrance to the building. “We like the contemporary, digital feel evoked by this painting even in it’s ongoing homage to past landscape painting traditions – it’s reflective of a similar balance that we strive to strike with our business” says Mason.
Ian Torney is a painter based in both Boston and in Jackson, NH – this installation also represents the first major corporate acquisition of his work in the White Mountain region. Blue Sky Triptych is one of the most significant paintings of Torney’s extended engagement with his “At The Horizon” series – paintings born from the plein-air landscape tradition, about atmospheric ambiguity, and that explore the tension between reality and abstraction at the distance of broad vistas. Torney states of his work: “I have a love of paint, and my medium is applied vigorously with textured impasto strokes, and I have an enthrallment with the grand landscape view. The White Mountains have long served as inspiration for my work, and I am honored to finally have one of my paintings featured here in the Conway region.” Torney is represented by the MillBrook Gallery and Sculpture Garden of Concord, NH and exhibits his work throughout the Boston area and New England – see www.iantorneyart.com for additional information about the artist, or to commission or purchase work. Blue Sky Triptych can be viewed during regular business hours at the M&M offices, 3278 White Mountain Highway in North Conway, NH.
